My TOTAL guess is over 10,000, or more than enough to go between every oil change interval. This guess is based off the Passat's Adblue tank of 5 gallons and 10-15,000 miles. Cruze tank is 4.9 gallons and is also 4 cylinder engine. 5 gallons of DEF/Adblue fluid costs around $24 retail at the local auto parts store.
The Adblue counter does not need resetting as it should go awaywhen the tank is topped up. I don't know whether it is actually possible to reset the conter any other way. The Adble fault does have at least 2 possible causes. One is a faulty sensor, which usually costs £400 to £500 to fix. To summerise: Leak in my Adblue tank. Swapped leaking tank for a new tank out of a 6.1 that looked identical and all the plugs were compatible. Multitude of errors, including the Adblue level not reading and counting down to zero pretty quickly. Went into a main dealership today who hooked it into their computer and it read an open circuit.

The system requires a minimum of ~3.75L to reset. I'm sorry, I misinterpreted your post, assuming that 4L filled it. If that had been so it would indicate an issue. The tanks apparently have a capacity of 17L, so, yes, a fill of 16L would indicate that the tank was close to empty, and hopefully the warning should clear quickly.

I took off the plastic cover under which there was a plastic tray in which the bag was (it was crumbled and cracked) I had to buy a new one with 1.7L liquid. (520 PLN) To remove the cover, unscrew about 3 screws with a key10 and remove the plastic pins from the clips, about 4 pcs. and take out the clips.
